In OCEAN³ we believe that the protection of the oceans, not only a responsibility but a necessity. Our oceans are the basis of life on earth – they produce oxygen, regulate the climate and are home to an incredible diversity of species. However, pollution, Overfishing, ocean acidification and climate change threaten this fragile Ecosystem.

Our Mission

It is our Mission to not only the marine habitats along the Moroccan coast to protect, but also local waters like the back of the Süderelbe in Hamburg. Rivers are the lifelines of our planet – connect the single country with the oceans, transporting nutrients and offering many animal and plant species are valuable habitats and are essential to the ecological balance. Their conservation is crucial, in order to preserve biodiversity, to protect the drinking water and to minimize the effects of pollution on marine Ecosystems.

Our Focus

Coastal protection, flow protection & waste disposal
, We organize regular Clean-ups both on beaches along the river Elbe in Hamburg. Especially in the port area and on the Banks a lot of plastic garbage that passes over the river Elbe in the North sea accumulates. Through local action and awareness, we can prevent waste from getting into the sea.

The protection of the marine and river middle biodiversity
of The river Elbe is home to many species of fish and waterfowl, but pollution and Maritime transport you to. We work with scientists and fishermen to the environment and to restore from the Moroccan coast up to the river Elbe.

Sustainable fisheries & protection of waters,
Whether in the open ocean or in rivers – sustainable fishing methods are crucial for the conservation of biodiversity. We are committed to eco-friendly fisheries in the Maritime as well as in river Ecosystems a.

Education & awareness-raising
, Knowledge is the key to change! In addition to Workshops for the protection of the oceans, we have to sensitize people to the importance of local waters. The Elbe between Hamburg to the North sea – and what gets into the water, it affects our oceans.

Think globally, act locally
By the Moroccan coast to the Elbe – each Region has its own challenges, but the solutions must be sustainable. Together, we can protect our waters and oceans ahead!

The use, for the protection of the sea is of vital importance, since the oceans play a Central role in the global Ecosystem. They cover more than 70 percent of the earth’s surface and are a habitat for a huge diversity of plant and animal species, many undiscovered still. Seas are not only for biodiversity, but also for the climate, because they store large amounts of carbon dioxide and the weather patterns worldwide influence.

Unfortunately, the oceans are facing today, with numerous threats. Plastic waste, industrial Overfishing, pollution caused by chemical waste water and Oil, as well as the consequences of climate change, such as warming and ocean acidification pose enormous risks. These factors have a dramatic impact on the inhabitants of the ocean and can destroy entire Ecosystems. Coral reefs, which are among the most species-rich life of the earth areas, due to rising water temperatures and pollution in danger.

A healthy ocean is also for the people is of great importance. The oceans not only provide food resources, but also to important services such as the regulation of climate, the water cycle and the provision of raw materials. The protection of the seas is thus not only a question of nature protection, but also the position of the quality of life and the ecological Balance for future generations.

The more important it is that we advance as a society to take responsibility, the protection of the seas. This can be due to the reduced use of plastic, sustainable fisheries, and the promotion of marine protection and the fight against environmental pollution to happen. Only by joint efforts we can preserve the oceans for future generations, laying the foundations for a healthy global Ecosystem.

Current Campaigns

Hamburg

Project presentation: ‘Living Elbe – protection and research on our doorstep’

The Northern Elbe is one of the two main arms of the river Elbe in the city of Hamburg and plays a Central role for the ecological balance in the Region. It serves as an important habitat for numerous fish and plant species, affects the climate of the city and offering a recreational space for the people. However, rising temperatures, invasive species, pollution with Plastic and human intervention to set this sensitive Ecosystem is increasingly becoming.

Morocco

Whispers of the Ocean: Life Beneath Moroccan Waves

Our film project is devoted to the current state and the challenges of the marine environment in our Region. It explores the marine biodiversity of Morocco and the close connection of the coastal communities to the ocean. Impressive recordings, and interviews with experts discussed the Film sustainable fishing, plastic pollution, global warming, ocean acidification and protection measures with the aim of creating awareness and ocean protection to inspire you.
